Some Halloween costumes stick around year after year because they’re staples of the holiday night. One of the main staples that you’ll always see at Halloween is a witch costume.
Witch costumes can easily be spotted by the tall, pointed hats or the broomstick accessories – but the difference in some of the costumes is the style. There are eerily frightening witch costumes, complete with warty nose and pointed chin – but there are witch costumes that are much more glamorous and even sexy.
The colors can be red, blue, black, purple and even pink. The length of the costumes are floor length to mid thigh. Along with witch costumes, another favorite in classic costumes for women are devil costumes.
Many of the devil costumes use red as the main color. One such costume has a short red dress with wings on the back. It also has black lace leggings, horns, a tail and pitchfork. Some of the devil costumes are more sexy than scary and there’s one with an off the shoulder red dress that has jagged edges that fits the sexy category more than scary.
Devil costumes can be more formal – such as the floor length black dress costume with the stand up collar, arm gloves and pitchfork. The stand up collar dresses have seen a renewed interest since the release of the Snow White and the Huntsman movie that showed Ravenna in the stand up collar dress that was so beautiful.
On the flip side of the witch and devil costumes, angel costumes are also popular classic costumes. These costumes are classic and sweet or daring and sexy. They can come in either short or long dresses or robes. Some are even reversible so that the other side is a devil costume. Though these costumes usually come in white, there are fallen angel costumes available in black.
Ghost costumes are always plentiful on Halloween and there are cute ghost costumes (like Casper) and there are creepy ones like ghost bride and ghosts with blood accessories. But there are also ghost costumes with specific themes like graveyard or mediaeval lady.
Classic costumes also include pirate costumes, fairy costumes and zombie costumes. But one of the extremely popular costumes is still the vampire costume, kept high in popularity no doubt by the influx of vampire movies and books.
These immortal characters can take over Halloween night dressed in the gothic, Victorian, vixen or classic vampire attire. Nurse, policewoman and animal costumes are also classic costumes for women that you might want to consider.
