Toddler Storybook and Superhero Costumes
Halloween is a magical night. Little toddler boys and girls usually love to dress up like their favorite character from a movie, book or TV show. The classic storybook characters never go out of style, and while superheroes are really from long ago, they’re still today’s top blockbuster movies.
The most popular costumes for toddler boys and girls who want to dress up like a superhero are the following:
- Batman or Batgirl. The costume for girls comes in classic black and yellow or a girly version that’s bright pink. You can either get the mask or paint one on, if your little girl doesn’t like the feel of having it too close to her face. For boys, the costume is a one piece outfit, often fitted with extra muscles.
- Spiderman or Spidergirl. The girl’s costumes aren’t bodysuits like the boys. They’re generally dresses in the classic red and blue or a pink version. Pair it with some tall boots and buy extra gloves for a complete look. For boys, they look just like Spiderman: a one-piece suit, with gloves, boots, and a hooded mask.
- Superman or Supergirl. The costumes for girls are adorable dresses with capes in classic red, blue and gold colors with a giant “S” on her chest. Most of the costumes will come with a belt and boot coverings. Boys get a one-piece jumpsuit with a cape and belt, the boots are part of the jumpsuit.
- Captain America or American Dream. The costumes for the daughter of Captain America look just like Dad’s, except it comes in a red, white and blue dress, instead of a bodysuit. Buy a shield for her to carry as an accessory. Captain America costumes are one piece jumpsuits, and some are fitted with muscles inside them. They all come with the standard headpiece that this character wears, but you’ll need to buy the shield separately.
Other superhero costumes that little boys and girls want to wear this Halloween include Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Wolverine, and the Green Lantern. Most of these options have versions for the girls, too.
Storybook characters are just as important as superheroes. They’re who we dream of as toddlers when we’re falling asleep and who we imagine ourselves to be in magical fairy tale moments. Some of the popular costumes for girls include Cinderella, of course, Ariel from Little Mermaid, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland, Merida, and Rapunzel.
Boys love to dress up as their favorite Winnie the Pooh characters, the Peter Pan good guys and bad guys, and those loveable creatures from the Lion King movies. There’s something for everyone and your little boy or girl will be playing with their costume well after Halloween.
